my body is tired. my head is in the clouds. the lights in this room are too bright. i have been spreading myself pretty thin lately. i work eight hours a day, then go straight to a band practice for one of three bands, i get home and crash only to do it all again. i am rarely at my own house. i cleaned my room for the first time in what seems like months. i have a cough and want to sleep for five days in a row, but i have to go to north park for a pre recording recording. i am dreading today/tonight.

scott and i were playing music from about 4 to 7 in the afternoon on a Sunday. it was just the two of us. I was playing drums and keys, he was on the guitar. a cop came to our house and ticketed us for being too noisy. we didn't get one warning. just, BOOM, a ticket for $500. when we asked him if he would give us a warning, he replied with "i've been doing this for 11 years and i don't give out warnings any more because they are useless. Basically, i just don't trust that you'll stop playing music after I leave, and I don't want to have to come back again."
Fuck this. Musicians get shit on everywhere. it's for the following reasons why i'm pissed:
1) it's in the middle of the day, you should be able to make some fucking noise, it's the day time and you're not sleeping anyway. 2) why don't people just fucking come over and ask us to stop? don't they realize that chances are, we'll be thankful that they asked us instead of fucking calling the cops? 3) if we were two middle aged men sitting in their living room playing fucking Lynyrd Skynyrd the cop wouldn't have cared. But, because we are two 22 year old kids playing rock and roll, we're automatically little punks. fuck that. 4) we should get a warning. the cop told us that parties get warnings, but we weren't a party, so we don't get one. I think that's pretty fucking backwards. Fuck, just the other day, a local venue got the cops called on them for being too loud and the fucking venue didn't get a fucking ticket. and that was at like 1:30 in the morning. 5) I think it's fucked up that a ticket for a noise violation is $200 more than a red light violation. Running a red light can kill people, but somehow making loud music calls for a much harsher fine.
The moral of the story is, that we have to move out of this fucking neighborhood. I hate everyone in this joint.
